More specifically, what kind of advertisements? I can try making a mockup of one if I have time.

Re: Brightness doesn't work in 2.4.8 on Antergos Linux
Hm, I just noticed I'm having the same issue on Arch Linux.when I close BZFlag, the gamma is reset to 1.018268 in the config.

Have you checked permissions on the config? It might be that you can still edit it manually but not save from BZFlag.

Re: Mapchange Poll Suggestion
I don't think BZFlag's internals even support map changing while connected, it'd probably require a large rewrite of the networking system to implement it.

Thanks @ccb
I've already made a PR a few months ago, never got merged though.

Re: Passture
Thanks @kierra
Had fun making it, everything used to create it is included in the zip.
I used a Python script to generate the BZW file to simplify things a bit.

Re: New Maps
I'm not too sure about the requirements, but here's a map I made today for league-style play:
viewtopic.php?f=64&t=19259
Tested with 2 shot limit, no jumping, default shot speed/reload, ricochet.

Passture Here's a map I made today after playing on kierra's Pass-The-Flag map. It's a similar style with a different layout, and utilizes height without jumping. Have fun! Re: 3D Grass
Thanks @Constitution
Grass is currently a little ugly around edges of objects, ie. tanks and buildings, and I've also tried a few different ways to blend the grass near the ground, and the current method works pretty well.

Re: 3D Grass
I'm not sure how physics would change anything, especially since the server can already change stuff, ie. friction and similar things. My original idea was to place grass in grass "zones", defined by the map file. I want to have grass completely optional, and client-side whenever possible,...

Re: 3D Grass
@Flak 18: Most of those options are easily addable, except for the grass effects and wind.
I don't see what you mean by grass "effects", what's that for? (Grass is ONLY visual, and client-side)

You mean like this?
https://wiki.bzflag.org/CustomTanks
It probably won't be implemented for a while yet, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.
Edit: sorry for the bump, just noticed the date.

3D Grass
I've implemented 3D grass into BZFlag 2.4.6, and while it might be messy and won't work on maps with fake floors, it's still a step, however small :) https://forums.bzflag.org/download/file.php?mode=view&id=16733&sid=b800ccd0866d46d9797e98d43f0af1ef https://forums.bzflag.org/download/file.ph...

Re: What was attractive about this game?
...As I found myself surrounded by players I didn't recognize anymore, and as I saw largely the same maps time after time on the front page (and hence the variety disappeared), I started playing less and less. But I kept Bzflag installed (also: barely takes up any space!) on every computer I've had...
