Re: Apocalypse In Action :: Planet MoFo
Sorry, OD, I'm not a huge fan of the new zones. I'm sure they're intended to make the gameplay more competitive and interesting, but so far, I've found them to increase long runs of spawn killing which in turn leads to players bailing. Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but for me it takes a good bit...
Re: Survey
1. Would you support a community effort to help bring back activity to BZFlag? Yes, although not sure exactly what is meant by "community effort" 2. Would you be in BZFlag if you were unable to join, chat or spawn when you first came to BZFlag? No, I despise servers/maps that block communi...

Re: Register Callsign
I could be completely wrong, but if my memory serves right, you can play unregistered on several servers without any issue unless you use an already registered callsign - then you get a warning that the callsign is registered and instructions on where to go to register your own. I'm sure there's dir...

Re: BZ Superstitions
I like to play with a good drink, preferably a bourbon... one sip for every kill.

Re: Why are there only like 30 people playing BZFLAG at one
I got hooked on BZ via the Missile Wars 2.0 map and thankfully had good players like Joop, chickenfarmer, FA!!!, War Pig, joker, etc to show me the ropes - not only to the actual controls of the game but also to the strategies. I got geno'd occasionally in my early days and got shot a heckuva lot. A...

Unfortunately, Z, so oh so many other players have not yet learned to say my name as it was intended... feel free to spread the word

Re: What (if anything) do you listen to when playing BZ?
I, for one, silence the game itself. My soundtrack tends to vary, but lately i've been in a chill Bon Iver mood with a little dubstep thrown into the playlist here and there just to shake things up.

Re: How do you pronounce callsigns?
jhs is pretty easy... you pronounce it, "oh-mi-tee-one" or sometimes "awe-sum"

Re: UDP errors
Thanks blast... the only two server/maps I have connection issues with are "Apocalypse" and "Urban Jungle" - they give me the two error messages regarding UDP and firewall. Everywhere else plays just fine. I assumed its a network issue because it only seems to happen when I'm joi...

Re: UDP errors
Hey Kess, I have a similar problem this week trying to connect to the mofo/apocalypse server... I receive a message that mentions waiting until I connect to the UDP something something, then another message that says that I can't spawn and need to fix my firewall. I find that I can't send messages e...

Re: Maverick Upgrade
My guess is that it's a network issue - I'm up and running now and haven't had any issues with lag/jit. Just my two cents, hope you get it worked out!

Re: Mac OSX Mavericks
JeffM: I'm running the full release made available last week (not the beta/developer release) on a 2012 MacBook Air with Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB. I was running BZ just fine on under 10.8, so it's definitely something quirky with the OS upgrade as far as this Mac is concerned. Constitution: ho...

Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks Crash
Hey everyone, I'm checking out the new Mac OS and discovered my BZ client won't run with it (was running just fine under Mountain Lion). Any suggestions as to getting them to play nice together? I usually play BZ on my other Mac, so I'm neither lost to the BZ community nor intending to downgrade fro...
