Re: MG Glitch
I have firing actions bound to both keys and the mouse wheel. When I grab the MG flag, it starts firing automatically. When I use the mouse wheel, it switches to firing only when moving the wheel. When I tap a firing key, it starts firing automatically again. Sounds like the glitch is that the clie...

This sounds vaguely familiar (maybe a regression?), though that issue didn't really get a definitive fix at the time...

Re: Not Able To Connect To Brad
First suggestion would be trying to run a traceroute to Brad's server to possibly see if one of the jumps between you and there is down (or at least unstable).

Did you scale the tanks relative to the buildings or are they at normal default size? If the latter, then that would definitely add credence to the "1 world unit = 1 meter" hypothesis (although, I always assumed that to be true anyways).

Re: Mouse Wheel Acceleration on Macbook Air
From what I understand, the "Overdrive" function works by repeating extra key/button events between raw events. Programs that read the raw mouse events directly instead of the OS-level events (which - correct me if I'm wrong - includes BZFlag) will not gain any benefit from it.

Re: Radeon X600 & XT 2400 unplayable
Run the package downloaded from AMD anyway - Microsoft is (or at least for a very very long time, was) notorious for removing the OpenGL component on the drivers you get from them, leaving you with only the generic software emulation. The download from AMD should reinstate OpenGL hardware accelerati...

Re: Machine Gun Shooting Distance
Were you spraying (turning to one side or another while firing) or holding to a straight line? Was your opponent spraying or holding to a straight line? For some reason, range and hit probability go down almost exponentially on BK's if you happen to be turning while firing MG.

cd desktop\bzflag server "c:\program files (x86)\bzflag2.4.0_32bit\bzfs.exe" -conf config.txt You need to specify the map file as a command line argument (-world map_filename ), or the server will generate a random map and use the specified config file for map options. As you have it now ...

1) This is a new discussion and should be started in a new thread in the "Servers: Help" section.
2) What are you putting on the command line when you start the bzfs executable?

In nVidia, you may need to create a profile for BZFlag: Click on the "Program Settings" tab from the page shown in your screenshot. Click the "add" button, navigate to your BZFlag application folder (usually somewhere in either "\Program Files" or "\Program Files (...

Re: BzFlag is dying
In any case, have you looked over the stuff here? http://opencombat.net/wiki/ JeffM was documenting some of his ideas for how a new game could be run. Leagues would be a built-in feature, registration would be required, and there would be tiers of servers that you could get on depending on if you c...

Okay, so I went roaming around on this map yesterday (alone, unfortunately), and I still stand by my original evaluation. I strongly suspect at this point that the evaluation will continue to stand even when full.

Re: Q (needs hosting)
This map actually looks quite good - both aesthetically and in terms of gameplay. The terrain is broken up enough that there's plenty of opportunity to dogfight, and the strategic structures look to be open enough that there's really no advantage to over-defensive concentration of your forces in-bas...

In Synaptic, the proper package name for what you should have installed is:
libsdl1.2-dev
libsdl1.2-dev

I agree with removing. Then again, I've never looked at the flag options block when browsing servers anyways (except on occasion to see if the map carries Bad Flags).

Just from a cursory glance of your .configure output, it seems you're having an issue compiling the player client? That's the only thing I'm seeing not being made, and it appears to be because the script isn't detecting OpenGL support...?

Allow plugins to register custom flag types - Daniel Remenak Does this mean plugin flags will be/are now limited to what plugins can do? That would be/is really cool. That itself might bring alot of people of people back to BZFlag. Yup, I asked the same question. The answer was yes, it is to preven...
