Re: Your BZFlag Hero/Master
Green is my dude. Known him for years and he's always a lot of fun since he's so friendly and competitive. Probably one of my first heroes was Tread Baron, from years and years ago (so he probably will never read this). I met him years ago around the time 2.0.0 came out and we'd always dogfight on h...

Re: Why are there only like 30 people playing BZFLAG at one
I'm totally with you on the fact that flags add some variety and an extra layer of strategy to the game when used wisely , and I'd say you're one of the players who knows how to use flags properly...just grab a flag and enjoy it for a while instead of being overly picky and limiting yourself to only...

Re: Why are there only like 30 people playing BZFLAG at one
Interesting views being aired here - and I am much of the same mind. Though I'm a newbie here - I've been playing BZ for years, and whilst not an expert player by any means, the essence of the game to me ought to remain embodied in two areas. The ability to shoot straight and anticipation of the op...

Re: Some fun/weird gameplay ideas
Hmm...if I remember correctly, aren't there different settings for default gravity and Wings-gravity? And if so, would it be possible to get the same effect by setting those variables differently from each other and having the server automatically give/take the Wings flag from players in specific ar...

Re: Some fun/weird gameplay ideas
This is sort of along the lines of what I was thinking of above: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trXY24V52LE Disregard the glitch the guy is trying to show off, as well as most of the outer areas of the stage. But notice how there's this energy lift thing that he can hop in and ride upwards, but if ...

Re: Some fun/weird gameplay ideas
I was thinking you could just make it so the map has no floor or ceiling (say, a large vertical tube) and the player dies if he either floats too far up or falls too far down. Could be even cooler if the tube could be split long-ways so that one half is anti-gravity and the other is normal gravity, ...

Re: Some fun/weird gameplay ideas
TZBZ and I were playing around with some of these ideas on his server for a bit today. The main complications we ran into with Melee mode were preventing tanks from running into their own bullets, and making sure the shots remain stationary even if they are shot while moving backwards. Maybe a plugi...

Some fun/weird gameplay ideas
Hey guys, I've had a few ideas for some different gameplay styles in BZFlag the past few days. Most of these could probably be implemented through server settings or plugins, and I am not at all suggesting that these become "official" and ship with future releases of the game that might no...
Re: Blue
I know exactly what you mean about blue tanks/bullets being very difficult to see on radar. I had a very, very difficult time with that and would actually make a point to put all the blues on hunt whenever joining a match, until I found out I could change my config file so that anything on the radar...

Re: Suggestion for a new Flag.
There's also some servers with a setting called ShotsKeepVerticalVelocity, which aims the bullets up or down based on your own tank's movement. So if you shoot as you reach the apex of your jump, the shots will angle upwards, and as you fall back down, the shots will also angle downwards. Very usefu...

Re: Can't find my config file
Found it. I had been running the system search in Spotlight, which usually works but apparently not this time. Searched for "Library" in Finder and found config.cfg. Thanks!

Can't find my config file
I'm trying to find my config file so I can make the blue tanks/bullets more visible on the radar, but it doesn't seem to be on my computer anywhere, even after running a system search. The game does retain my settings, so I know there must be a file somewhere, but I haven't found it. I use Mac OSX 1...

It really does have that old school feeling! Aside from some of the flags like WG and then the weird room at the top, of course.

Are you planning on actually having Monopoly-styled gameplay, or just a regular game of BZFlag that happens to be on a Monopoly board?

Re: General Hostility Levels
Idk, I like Mofo's language policy and find the "lang" plugin hilarious. There's nothing better about restricting the use of language through censorship, and the very idea that society has decided that certain groups of letters are inherently wrong, evil, or just rude regardless of context...

So in other words, assuming a new version of BZFlag is ever released, there's already a good chance that it would be included?

Re: Mouse Vs. Keyboard
Mouse ftw! I started out playing using the keyboard, but I just couldn't maneuver or dodge smoothly enough, and had a hard time with moving and firing due to the key config (which I've never really messed around with). Then I switched to the mouse once I found out I could do that, and it makes movin...

Re: "Trainer" map suggestion box
Not sure I remember ever seeing the skinny platform. But is the jump kind of like what people use on Apocalypse whenever they have to jump from the side of the box up to the bridge connecting to the base?

Re: old maps
Not sure what spelling errors you're talking about, but yeah, Mario's Arena should still be in the serverlist if you search for it. It would be awesome to see it near the top of the list a little more consistently, since it's so fun to play on.

It's public, but there's usually no one on. Would be great to get some more activity on it. But what was the map you mentioned in your first post? It doesn't sound familiar to me, do you remember it's name?

Re: old maps
If you want some old maps, the best thing to do is to find them (possibly sitting around on these forums if you search for them hard enough), and then host them on your own server. But if you're unable to do that, I'd say the next best thing would be to go to the Map Releases board and make a specif...
