Give Genocide a radius
I think that Genocide is the most over-powered flag in the game, and I've finally thought of a simple way of making it less annoying. Instead of the current method of simply killing everyone on the team of the player who was shot, kill everyone on his team within a configurable radius of him. Since ...

Re: IRC meeting to discuss BZFlag Replacement Project
I fear this will turn into BZFlag's equivalent of Xonotic. Also, isn't C++ faster than C#?

Re: Editor Highlight Codes
I have a BZW syntax file for Vim that I've been working on for a while. It's far from complete, but do what you want with it. In other words, this has no copyright or anything. syntax case match syntax match Comment "#.*" syntax keyword keyword end syntax keyword keyword world options wate...

The best way to make a map at the moment is with your friendly neighborhood text editor. Hopefully we'll get a good GUI map editor sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Re: Spawnkilling Prevention
Interesting. I was not aware of that world option. But still, that doesn't prevent people from spawnkilling with SW, or anything else really.
Using flagOnSpawn and flagStay would work about the same, but then you'd just have to fire two L/SW/yourfavoriteflaghere shots instead of one.

Spawnkilling Prevention
After playing on Castle Warfare for a while, I got really annoyed by spawnkillers. Even though that map's rules forbid spawnkilling, people do it all the time. So I got an idea. There could be a variable called something like _capInvincibility, which is the amount of time (in milliseconds) that play...

Re: Honors 1.0: I need YOUR help!
This looks like a good idea. You might be able to make it work in 2.x by making a bot that a player is forced to kill by the server to have points awarded. Burglar - use Thief to take a team flag from a member of that team, then capture it without dying Cake - fire a shot through 'x' teleporters and...

Re: It's not the fall that kills you - It's the sudden stop
This is amazing. The one thing I'm worried about is that often circular maps or maps with lots of texturing aren't popular or just aren't fun to play. But this is truly beautiful. Now 3.0 needs to be released.

Or maybe a plugin that requires players stay in a field of 50x50 or 100x100. That could make the team work together better. Or maybe it would just force EVERYONE to camp.

It's pretty cool, and the colours aren't distorted as much as you'd think. Or maybe it's just because I'm so used to the grass textu...

Here is one thing I've learned: you can drive twice as fast in forward than in reverse. This is a very important fact, especially when an enemy with SW is jumping your way. Drive away forward, not backward.

Try finding the data directory and then specify it with the -directory option when you start BZFlag. That would probably fix it.

If it's hard to read, then they'll spend more time to read it, and get shot.

Re: Screenshot with tanks posing
I'd help you do it, but we'd need to set a time and server. Or you could use a local server and run many clients. Of course, if you do it on a public server, be sure to have tank labels on in your client so they can see it's us (all the tanks seem to look the same).

Or, to fix the ^M problem, just run the file through the dos2unix program. That would automatically convert the line endings.

Re: Closed source BZFlag version
I have several problems with this idea. First, you would be taking away the freedom of users to do what they want. Second, there is no such thing as perfect network security, you could reverse-engineer your own client to send the exact same hashes and everything that the closed-source version tries ...

Oh wow, this sounds absolutely amazing. Changing the shot type for the rabbit team could be really useful, as it could actually give people some incentive to become rabbit. Would it be possible to make it change shot type for people in a certain area of a map specified in the .bzw file?

I think that's a great idea myself. Being able to burrow into boxes could be useful for a map with a false bottom. Of course, objects OO can't drive through has already been suggested by me here.
