Re: Its been almost 7 years... Wow
I think you might be talking about the Pyramid map. Im still really proud of that. Its the first link in the first post No, that's not it. Though I do remember the Pyramid map pretty well, was fun. I'll have to see if I can find it, or at least the name of it. It could have been that other guy whos...

Re: Its been almost 7 years... Wow
Wow! Cedric himself has reappeared! Great to see ya.
I still think I have some of your maps sitting around. What's that one... gosh... can't remember the name. It was really popular. Had lots of different levels, I think, right? If I still got it I could stick it up.

Re: End shot SW
hmmm :? . I see. you'd have to write something to parse the entire map before hand to calculate ricochet. I don't suppose there's anyway to have the server grab data from the client. BZ 3.0 is supposed to have servers do much more calculation than it's predecessors. Maybe something will come up. Ye...

Re: End shot SW
I know the server doesn't have an shot end event, but what if you made the plug-in assume when and were the shot will explode and place a world weapon in that spot and have a timeout for it. This is a very cool idea for a plugin indeed :D and a tool I would love to have when building maps. Looking ...

You need to kick someone on a LAN? Back in the days, we used to just go up and give them a real kick! Obligatory note: I do not condone violence. :P Probably in this case it'd be easiest and likely more logical to use a password instead of global login, because as Longhair mentioned, you need your s...

On my Mac I always need to compile with the options --enable-shared and --enable-plugins , otherwise it doesn't work at all for me. As for the Makefile editing, I'm not completely sure, but I'm going to bet that the variable pkglibdir has nothing to do with plugins. make install places plugins in $p...

Yeah, I've noticed the other servers. KTL looks a lot like the original one, BZFX is old. Guess badger's will never be as popular as it used to be  I would gladly host the latest one if someone has it. It seems Badgerking is MIA, he hasn't responded to my PM. I am completely open to taking car...

The EASIEST solution is to provide enforcement. This can be done with proper rules and administration of those rules. It has to be thought through thoroughly. As far as I know; no one is doing this. I would be glad to develop something if admins would commit to changes. I don't want to develop some...

I don't agree with this idea, because I think that the goal of most radar-less maps is to be without radar, and having radar would ruin the fun for both the flag holder and the other players. Flags are not required, but an optional feature to the map maker. All maps are flagless until you define th...

You could put the reload time to half to compensate for the shots. Perhaps, but seems like a pretty hackish way for the intended effect. Spending more time refactoring code and making it more modular and pluggable seems like a better investment, as not only this sort of thing would be possible, man...

2.0 based protocol, by limitation, can not change player physics dynamically. I do not know if this has been implemented in 2.99, but I know a lot of per-player type modification work has been done (or planned). The only thing one could do is change gravity for all players at that exact instant (but...

The 2.0 API does not allow that sort of flag control. I'm assuming that it would be possible to be added to the API, though, as the server controls dropping flags (not sure how much work it'd take, though, I haven't really looked at flag control). You'd probably be better off, say, bz_removePlayerFl...

I'd recommend just compiling directly on the SuSE system. Saves you from having to set up cross-compiling on your Mac. If you disable bzadmin and the full graphical client, you'll need less dependencies. Er, yeah, I meant that there are many guides on the net on how to compile on Linux/SuSE. I woul...

While I applaud the people who have the money, knowhow, and most importantly, time , for their own dedicated server – I must ask why setup another? There is likely a half dozen people with their own dedicated servers (myself included) that are able to host some maps for free or very low cost. Anyway...
