SuperFlags? The question is will you actually be able to see all that detail when you are driving around blowing things up?

Well, I changed some more things. Since, after discussions, this map was not going to make it to Xmission, I decided to add a little more detail to the map.(just a little) Still have not heard if there is map technique to prevent the flag from getting lost in the base, but I assume there will be a f...

ok beyond the updated map I just posted above, there is an issue where the team flag gets stuck in thickness of the base block. this prevents a team from picking it up.

is there a way to prevent this with map design?

ok, this version should fix up the following issues:

1. solid center block traps team flag.
2. side catwalks extended outside map causing tanks to get stuck
3. some jumps between blocks were too tight
4. blocks surrounding bases increased just a little to help newbies with jumps.

dsl server setup: Linux only?

Couple questions:(many have been answered in another topics, not sure, probably need to create a faq from these) 1. does the bzfs only run non-lan in linux? 2. I have a floating IP with my dsl, I would like to use it to test maps in a public forum for short periods of time. will the floating ip be a...

slight mod to the thinkness of the X structure. for the most part, this looks good enough to send. there is one outstanding issue: the upper teleporters. to make up for the increased map size/travel distance, I made a teleporter super highway around the map. The issue is that it is really quick to m...

Depends on the situation, but if I know that the ST is there, I take out the other tank and try to anticipate the reaction of the ST. In most cases, it will immediately attack from behind.

Thats my approach, it works 50/50.

Ok, first, I am not even sure if Tim would allow us to replace the map that is currently running on xmission, but after Patty's comment, I decided to give it a shot. First, I have to have a map that Tim could use as a replacement. So here is a working copy. unforturnately it is very difficult to tes...

as a map maker(and non-server owner), I like the idea. I guess there could be a couple issues. 1. lenght of time map is played(a day, a week) If you get a flood of maps, there could be a little grumbling. However, ducati(?) had a rotating server. It ran a different map every 30/60 minutes or so. It ...

Gerbil was mentioning something like that. Do you think if I sent some pizzas to the developers they could kick it in gear and get the fix out. :)

Also, do you know if I rasied it completely off that level, say 0.1, allowing the tank to drive under the pyramid, if that would work?

ok, here is my 50 cents(inflation you know), I like the concept. I like the center section. I am not so much in favor of the high walls between the playing areas, and I am not a great supporter of the transporter walls.(Those dang things always annoy me when I am playing) A ctf map that is this diff...

Hey spiff, if you get a chance, look at the pyramids at the corners of the buildings(the tall ones off the ground). Does your tank get stuck on them? I have run on a couple different machines here, and I always seem to get stuck trying to drive through them. Not permanently, but certainly enough to ...

I agree with the concept of gravity and tank velocities. trying to make the jump distances "nice" should be only set once. Flags are more for the server owner, than the map maker. Different people like different combinations and different settings. Playing devils advocate to my own opinion...

City_Livin. Spiff indicated I should put in buildings, I blew it off for a bit. I had this idea this afternoon, and combined some things. It needs a rat for the sewers, but its kinda fun. fyi, someone indicated I might submit these to map contest. Honestly, I am doing these to appreaciate the effort...

Ok, this started out as a rework of the other map(The Fifth), but as I started to work little things out, it totally transformed. I had fun creating this one. It has a lot of problems and too many camping positions for ST's and L's, but watching the laser richo off the various pyramids was fun. Not ...
