Re: Calvin and hobbes
A little late to this discussion (15 years :). I made the above Calvin and Hobbes maps in late August of 2002. The versions posted above have been converted to a newer map syntax (2.x I assume), I'll post the originals here. I was playing around with a png2bzw converter that I had tweaked a bit. I d...

Re: How prevelant are subtle cheats?
No player should be 100% at avoiding STs after several years of encounters. I do not see/hear these players shooting into every blind corner.

How prevelant are subtle cheats?
I often play on some of the more popular free-style servers. Without naming names, there are a handful of players I sometimes encounter, who have the following properties. 1 They seem to be really good. 2 There is a big gap between their scores and everyone else. 3 If you have ST, it is impossible t...

Oh yeah, and another thing...
The newbs will catch on a *lot* quicker if the non-bunnies are some color other than black (which means "shoot me" in FFA). How about blue, red, purple or green?

The bunny game....
The bunny game is quite fun. Having played it a few days, I offer the following observations. The "bunny" status is generally assigned to the highest scorer who is alive, and typically rotates among the top 2 or 3 scorers. This causes a few basic effects: 1. There is a kind of Reaganomics ...

A workaround & fix
This is a cheesy fix because it doesn't actually restore your original gamma values. However, if you're like most people, you probably have a simple 1.0 gamma ramp, and this fix will make things look relatively normal. The problem is caused by the fact that windows BZ reads the gamma ramp at the beg...

What's your favorite brightness setting?
I don't know if it's just me, but on my computer, BZflag only looks right with the brightness setting all the way to the right. When it's in the middle (which corresponds to a normal gamma ramp), the nighttime sky looks darker, but everything looks too dark and shadowed, and its too hard to see the ...

The 12 Games of BzFlag
The 12 Games of BzFlag I've often noticed, when disagreements occur on the battlefield, that the participants are each playing a different game. Which game are you playing? 1. BzFlag is a game that involves tanks of different teams. The object is to kill as many of the enemy tanks as you can, while ...
