Re: Starting server - Failed (exit = 2)
Ah, yes, for the old sysV init system. The .service file for systemctl is located for me at /lib/systemd/system. ● bzflag.service - BZFlag game server Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/bzflag.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: active (running) since Wed 2019-11-27 10:43:32 CET; 2h 0...

Re: Starting server - Failed (exit = 2)
Ah, gotcha! Thanks blast and trpted!
systemctl showed me that bzflag.service is enabled and netstat got me the port!
Is there a way to interact with this service via config file or something? Right now I wouldn't know how to set a map on that server running...

Starting server - Failed (exit = 2)
Hey, so I wanted to start a server, first I tried it in bzflag itself, gave me the error in the title. Afterwards I tried it from the command line, gave me following: ~/.bzf/worlds$ bzfs -world ducati.bzw ERROR: Unable to start the server, perhaps one is already running? Same with any other variatio...

Re: Can't cycle through player names
So it's as simple as.... It's not the keyboard, otherwise I wouldn't be able to play with it... It's not the 'type while jumping' option. It does not affect that. It's the 'active input device''. I can't cycle through player names while keyboard is active. On the other side, it's possible while driv...

Can't cycle through player names
Hey guys and ladies, stranger things have happened, but I can't cycle through the player names after pressing '.' (dot) by using the left- and right-arrow as described here https://wiki.bzflag.org/Message . I've got no clue. I reinstalled BZF. I reset my config file, in case I did something strange ...

Probably it is the best to change the default to something that is easy to understand like the 'white' which is really clear.

Re: virus!
You could burn an Ubuntu Live CD and recover any important files off your existing hard drive. After you have any files copied off to a flash drive or USB hard drive http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download Quite easy, i suppose. And maybe you want to stay on Ubuntu, or any other Linux dis...

Re: should BZWC become a league?
Too easy, because you'd just have to kick the flag from a certain distance to the goal, which is easy to reach for a practised player. But certainly it 'd be fun.mrapple wrote:Or if you "kick" the flag into the goal

Than tell me, how do you want to promote BZFlag without paying for it? Is there a special free service?Cobra_Fast wrote:Who's gonna pay for it? You?
You know, we 're talking about getting hundred, or thousand people to play BZFlag, not just a few?

Re: don't let BZFlag die
As everything else bzflag has it's ups and downs, too. I think, it's just part of a cycle we 're in. However, I 've the uncertain feeling that the 2teamleauge could change a lot. Of course you got to give it time, it wouldn 't change from today to tomorrow, but after a few month it could have helped...

Wasn't there another option which forces the flag to fly to the killer?mrapple wrote:There's an option built into the plugin to not pass the flag on death.
However, just wonder if there is a possibility to catch the flag in flight? I suppose not?!

Re: should BZWC become a league?
Yes, i 'd like to see it as league. And i love the PTF plug-In, especially in the 2TeamLeague. Jumpin': Yes, but no. I 'd say maybe. Jumping is a nice thing (if you can it), but also if you allow it, you got to change the map. The current randam map (ducati style) doesn't support jumping the way HiX...

Re: Spawn-killing
Tonight, the red team had ten players, we had four. Red team camped on our tower and killed anyone who spawned. This is the typical Spawnkill situation, cased by newbies and dumb kids who are making fun of the minority. I already said this and i gonna say it again. This is a shooting game, and surp...

To make a final word on Offtopic: Pass Flag Plug-In
I really think this Plug-In is great and supports the tactical aspect of BZFlag. But i do also think, that the Ducatileague isn't the right place for it. Call me boring, but i like Ducati as it is.
The Place-To-Be for the Plug-In is the 2TeamLeague.

Re: Where did player ethics go?
I remember having a similar discussion. However. This code of conduct would be more a guideline, than anything else. Something that guides cops and admins for ban and kick issues. Any Serverowner can put the guideline into his server message and instruct his cops to incorporate them into their decis...

Re: Where did player ethics go?
Agreed, but what do you want to do? Giving ethic-lessons? This is a shooting-game, and as usual it attracts kid's, like 10 to 15 years old, and what do these kidies know about fairness and ethics? Sure, there are exceptions, but don't be too hopeful.

Re: Tank Size
But than the pro-gamers, or "skill0rs", will play less on public servers, or wherever this plug-in will be used. This will end up like following: The newbies and non-"skillers" will own the public maps, while the more experienced players occupy the leagues, where that plug-in won...
