Re: Turret map.
We just had someone inquire about it on our discord, so I'm going to put something for the record. The Turret Defense map required a server plugin to work. This plugin is crudely written and has been unmaintained for at least a decade, so it's uncertain if it even compiles against a current BZFS. It...

Re: Web BZFS
I made that web manager many many years ago and barely remember it. I cannot guarantee any level of quality on it; it's very possible that it contains critical security flaws - quite likely even, as it was one of my earlier PHP projects. For anyone who's interested in this thing anyways, I found wha...

Re: overly broad hostbans on servers?
There currently is nothing in place to let server owners see who their bans turn away. I personally think that admins need to be more careful with host bans and not simple ban *.com hosts to make sure they catch them all (Exaggeration). PM me your IP/Host and I'll see what bans I can narrow down. A...

Re: autokick: Player tank is moving too fast
It is probably not a network issue. It might be that the game is running too fast or too slow. Press the 't' key while playing on a server. Some small text will appear on the screen labeled "FPS". This is how many frames (images) are drawn per second. If you could provide us with that num...

Oh my god, sorry for bringing this up again, but due to recent events I revised the remix.
Since this game doesn't have much fan-art, i just thought I'd share.

Re: Cool little link I found
"that stuff" that has been reported to apparently travel faster than light are some type of neutrinos (actually, a minuscule proportion of them), and there are serious doubts in the scientific community that the experiment is correct. And there are good reasons to think so. We already hav...

Re: Update BZFlag on Debian
Well in that case, you would have to compile from source, or wait for a package for your architecture.

Re: Update BZFlag on Debian
2.4 is the latest release of BZFlag. If you know how to compile from source, you can download http://sourceforge.net/projects/bzflag/files/bzflag%20source/2.4.0/bzflag-2.4.0.tar.gz/download . Otherwise try one of these debian packages which have been built for Ubuntu, which doesn't necessarily mean ...

What do you mean by "he was not admin"? Didn't the @ show up? Was the player still missing permissions? ... ? It is known that the @ needs a player change (someone leaving or joining) to show up. (Caution Technical Info: The MsgPlayerInfo is only sent when people join or leave and it conta...

Re: The Voice Sound.
The game itself doesnt support custom sounds at the moment and probably won't support it in the future either.
But yes, I can imagine some server owners being against distributing audio files.

Re: BZFlag Social
I also had the idea of setting up a community newsletter roughly a year ago. But halfway through planning I had serious doubts about who would contribute text and more imporantly who would read it. My idea was to let people submit texts which I (or newsletter staff) would add to the next newsletter ...

Re: Lags on many servers
Besides forced VSync to ridiculously low rates I can also think of the CPU using speed stepping technology. That would mean that the CPU thinks that BZFlag doesnt require much power and therefore stays at lower speeds, you can try to fix that by changing your energy savings profile to "Performa...

As far as I know BZFlag has the anti-flicker option in 2.0.16 (Options->Display), have you tried that?

Re: Music in bzflag
Kinda related.. back in 1.7 (which is also when I did the above mentioned client mod) I also did some minor integration with Winamp. It could display the song title on the BZFlag screen (as well as the song position and the playing status) and it could control Winamp from in-game. It was just a cra...

Re: Music in bzflag
I'd be willing to create some music for the game, although I don't see the need. If people prefer to listen to music whilst playing, they rather prefer their own music than the music which ships with the game, so they get their own music player with their favourite music running. And I highly doubt ...
