Hrm, for some reason binaries come out for Linux a bit slower than they do for windoze. On the other hand, building from source code isn't too bad. You just have to find the dependencies first. By the way, this will be a bit sparse, as I'm assuming that you know your way around the command line and ...

Hmmm, I think we need some more information. What is airport? (other than the obvious) Only one of you should have to start a server. I'm not sure how do do it on a mac, but in windoze (caution, it's been a while since I've used windows), you open a command prompt from: Start --> Accessories --> DOS...

If you're behind a router, not forwarding port 5154 will keep anyone from getting on your server. They will get to your router, but not your computer because you wouldn't have the connection setup. Remember to use your local network ip address (not the public ip)for your son to connect to. It should...

Wow, I don't know what time of day all you pillbox players find nobody playing it on version 2.0.x but it seems like that's all I've played lately. Mostly matches of some sort, but pillbox certainly isn't dead in version 2. Oft times, if you catch the end of the pillbox rotation of silvercat 5154, a...

Was just thinking about that...

My idea was to have doors that would open for CTF matches. One team member would have to get by the door, and another would have to shoot the trigger. You'd only be able to capture the flag if you work as a team.

Thank MY, haven't chosen one yet By the way, you don't need to stick with just one. Personally, I'm involved in six different leagues right now. (HTF, Adrenaline, CTF, Fun CTF, Gu, and 1vs1) I play about 2-3 official matches a week, and several more "fun" matches if I can get them. Fun ma...

Hmmm, not sure what you're driving at here. When you say that you want to setup teams, do you mean as a league, or do you mean what color tank they show up as on the server. To my knowledge, you can't force a certain name to show up as a certain color. (somebody tell me if I'm wrong here!) Have a lo...

I think that would be fun! The graphic could be installed as part of the bzflag game. Most of the graphics are in place when you install bzflag, so these guns, wings etc. could just be png images. You wouldn't have to download anything at all during the game. Even if the barrel shape changed to acco...

I think you've got it summed up nicely, CBG. Some thoughts: Machine gun, Guided Missle, Shock wave, Wings, to name a few, have their own server variables. For example, SW has: _shockOutRadius which controls how far it extends _shockAdLife which controls how long is stays, and consequently, how fast ...

You may want to figure out your troubles with building from source, because you can then use the CVS repository and get the very latest features- which seems to change almost daily. One problem with awarding points for captures is that it may encourage team killing among the dishonorable players. Blow up your team mate, and collect the point.

I don't see this being a major problem, but it could be one more things for the admins to have to police.

Do you mean that you built a rpm out of 2.0.4 source for Fedora Core 4? I notice that there are never up to date rpms on the sourceforge site. The YUM repos always seem to be a few weeks behind too. I guess we all just compile from source.

If you and all of your players are inside of one router, you shouldn't need to forward any ports. If you don't advertise, your friends will need your computer's ip address or NETBIOS name. Remember, computers can have two ip addresses- one for it's local network. 192.168.1.* (a * means anything from...

Played it last night. Great map. I like that you can hide in the bushes (no radar) and ambush people. I have a pretty basic video card, and the fps wasn't too bad. 80-120 depending on where I was looking.

BZflag inner workings aside, streaming music would require quite a bit of bandwidth. Especially server side. Imagine streaming music to 20 players. One thought that occurs to me is that it could be done the way that Unreal Tournament does it. You either have the map with all the accompanying texture...
