Well, this is a big topic. BZFlag doesn't have nice point and clicky options for setting up a server. The advantage to this is that it's easier to add a bunch of options to what the server can do without having a messy and bloated GUI. The disadvantage, of course, is that newbs find it to be rather ...

I'd suggest a good session of reading the bzflag wiki. It will get you started.
http://bzflag.org/wiki
Suggestion: don't try to get everything working at once. Get it working on a very basic level, and add one feature at a time until you've become a server guru.

Yeah, it's kind of sensitive here. Most folks won't want you talking directly to them unless they know you. Have you considered setting up your own server? I haven't bothered to try it out, but it doesn't seem to be too steep a learning curve to get one going. Certainly not as difficult as learning ...

The wiki page that ATD mentioned has the default values listed. Also, you can always type: /set with no arguments, and you'll get a list of the server's current values. For example, _tankSpeed is normally 25. As the wiki page says, it is meant to be a general guide, not the definitive work. And, as ...

If you just want to install and play it, check with your distribution's package repository. It's probably in there. Then you'll use a package manager to install it. YUM works for Fedora and Yellow Dog, APT for Debian based distros, Emerge for Gentoo.... It's much easier than compiling from source yo...

I'm not sure about Windows, but for Linux, you want: bzfs -conf /path/to/conf/file >> logfile if you want the log to be appended to. In other words, it just keeps adding on to the end of the file. if you use: bzfs -conf /path/to/conf/file > logfile it will overwrite the file each time the server sta...

You shouldn't have to register at the silvercat site to play on the servers. So long as you're registered here. (unless jo or silver changed something) They HAVE been running a script lately that lets unregistered players join for a little while, and then kicks them telling them that they should reg...

Ummm, if you've downloaded bzfed, you most likely got some source code that needs to be compiled. Does the file name end in .tar.gz or .tar.bz2 ? The only type file that you can double click on and it gets installed are .rpm files. Let me know if you find an rpm for bzfed, because I sure couldn't fi...

Nice map! I've been looking for some jumping/superflag maps that would generate some exciting game play. Most of the matches are played on random maps in the Ducati style, followed by the Adrenaline Factory (aka rings) map. Neither of which are jumping servers. One nice thing about this map is the d...

The point of the plugin is to keep track of the score, since the usual scoring system is pretty much useless in the HTF style game. Check out: http://www.htfleague.com for more information. And visit the forums for discussion of all things HTF. There is also a league based on this play which myself,...
