Before touching anything like access-point-firmware or wireless-drivers you could simply first make sure whether your wireless connection is actually the issue:
Just connect your macbook via cable instead wireless, and check whether the situation did improve.

Re: fixing lag/jitter problem
The quintessence is that one should first try out the "risk-free" updates instead of starting with the risky updates. So I wouldn't recommand a newbie a bios-update as first step. Btw, it's a very BIG difference whether you update thousands bios of some few brand-name computer systems, or ...

Re: fixing lag/jitter problem
Dependent on vendor, a bios downgrade can be really problematic (that's exasperating if a brand-new bios upgrade has bad bugs)
More important: generally a failing bios-Update can make your computer system even unusable.
So a bios update should be rather a last resort.

Re: Is BZFlag a especial game?
I don't know about popular 3D games of nowadays. But I guess that you normally won't find ricochet functionality there (as principal element), like Bzflag has. (However I could be wrong) So that would be another very special property about Bzflag. I've heard that english is one of the hardest Latin ...

Re: New Laptop
As you seem to be fancy just with the MD-Models, I would recommand: Gateway® MD7826u. In contrast to the other MD-notebooks it has a much more powerful GPU, namely an "Ati 3650". (However be aware of the disadvantages of such powerful grafic solutions) Btw, keep in mind that Vista isn't co...

Additionally to snipers proposal you could report your case on the server (but not all servers have the report functionality activated). /report Here comes your message (maximal 128 characters) However there is no guarantee, that the server-owner will check the reports periodical. Re: Required connection speed?
Regardless of location, what is the minimum internet connection speed required to play BZFlag without any lag? Lag is independet of internet speed. If you can manage to get a lag of under 150 ms (and a low jitter) then servers won't kick you anymore for being laggy. Luckily, on most servers a lag o...

Re: Req: Colorblind mode/mod for those of us that are RG blind.
Firstly the values for each color (red, green, blue) goes from 0 to 1. Setting green radar icon: set greenradar "0 x 0" (x is the value for green color, like trepan mentioned) So set greenradar "0 1 0" would be the original green radar-tank-icon. The more close the second number ...

Now I know why it seemed to just work on my system, and not on yours systems, as I had textures deactivated. @newbie191: Alternatively to blast's proposal you could deactivate textures, if you don't care about visualisation quality: Options => Display settings => Texturing => Off Then the "set ...

Hmm, I tested it, when I intensionally switch off my WLAN, or deactivate my internet connection while playing Bz, then in both cases Bz doesn't freeze (as I can still use the Bz menu and so on...).

Ah ha, forgot to mention, when I run bzflag without the -config config.cfg variable on my system it also replaces any changes I've made in config.cfg. It IS correct to not use "-config config.cfg". But in your case it deleted your changes as they were syntactical incorrect. You need to ad...

Edit:
Quotation marks are needed.
So
set redcolor "0 0 1"
would be blue.
And
set redcolor "1 1 1"
would be white.
