http://list.bzflag.org/bzflag.html There haven't been any less than 50 players on at any time for more than a year, except for a few brief periods when the list server was down, and the average is over 100. Xtra, when you make a blanket statement like that, back it up with some facts, eh? Also note ...

That indicates that he's been verified by the list server - e.g. that the person in the screenshot is the same trepan that posts here (or at least knows his password). There's also @, which marks admins, and -, which indicates that the user is known but unverified - like if trepan tried to play as m...

The latest one, naturally :D. Look at http://my.bzflag.org/builds/1.11/ for builds for Windows, Mac, and Debian. I think the latest windows beta build was 1.11.29. I'll probably post 1.11.32 on Jan 2 if all goes well. Be warned that 1.11 is incompatible with 1.10, so there's usually nobody on the se...

There is no joystick support in 1.10 for most platforms. Wait for 2.0, it has full joystick support. If you want to try it out, grab one of the 1.11 beta builds.

Re: server won´t start

#Limit Acceleration -a -a requires two parameters, one for linear and one for angular maximum acceleration; both need to be between 0 (no acceleration allowed) and 1 (no limit), if I recall correctly. If I were you I'd just comment that line out altogether, limited acceleration is not my idea of fu...

Interestingly, that's not even a wiki page, but one of the old static help pages. Wonder how many others like it there are...they should probably be moved into the wiki and updated.

Key word there is "old" post. 1.7 didn't require the "set" keyword, 1.10 and above do. The wiki page should be corrected, which page was it?

What graphics card are you using, and what drivers? If you're using an ATI card and it's new enough to use ATI's binary drivers, go get them. If it's not new enough or you're using a different brand of card you might be out of luck until the DRI drivers get fixed to work right with x.org. (Assuming ...

The errors from sed on mingw imply that you didn't check out the sources with unix linefeeds. As README.MINGW32 says: If you get bzflag files from CVS be sure to check them out with UNIX linebreaks, or MSYS will choke. In WinCVS, this can be done with the "Check out text files with the Unix LF ...

For finding new files, there are two strategies. One is to subscribe to the bzflag-commit mailing list (go to the sourceforge project page, then to mailing lists, etc), and watch for notifications of new files, or to just carefully watch for files which are marked U when you do a cvs update... e.g. ...

Basically on windows you have four options: 1. Pay Microsoft a ton of money for Visual C++ 2003. The VC71 projects are kept up to date by (at least) three developers. 2. Read README.MINGW32, and go get MingW, MSYS, and the MSYS DTK from http://www.mingw.org. This will give you a commandline developm...

I played BZFlag on a TNT2 Ultra for a long time. Have to turn some things down (IIRC, shadows was the big one) to get a decent framerate, but it runs fine. Make sure you have the latest nVidia drivers. On the other hand, GeForce2 cards are about $20 now, and ought to let you run at full detail...

The first news entry at that site is from 1998. BZFlag began in 1992 (see http://www.bzflag.org/wiki/ProjectHistory). That clear things up? For what it's worth, BZFlag was "inspired" by Atari's Battlezone game - it could be that Tanarus was also.

Toaster, thanks for the comments and the sanity. You have a lot of good points. Perhaps I should have started a new thread. :) Hindsight is 20/20. Yes, the admins/cops may not be people you know, but that doesn't make it random. There is still some sort of trust factor involved between the owners an...

All of those problems exist as it is right now, except that it's per-server. Server admins can do 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. (and 7 and 8 if you use the same password for multiple accounts). And that's for each server. There are people who are admins on servers who would never be considered for any privilige...

It's a UI issue more than anything else. Typically users who want it on only need to turn it on once (since it's automatic after that), while those who want it off have to turn it off repeatedly. Off is a far better default from that perspective than on.

Some distros can resize ntfs partitions during setup, including SuSE and Mandrake (but not fedora or slack; don't know firsthand about any others). See also http://mlf.linux.rulez.org/mlf/ezaz/ntfsresize.html - you can always boot off of a more specialized cd like SystemRescueCD and resize your wind...

Most distros' setup programs will ask you what you want the partition setup to be, with several reasonable options (like split free space, maximum space for linux, remove windows entirely). If they don't give you a reasonable option, you can always do it yourself; it's quite easy with modern tools (...

See http://bzbb.bzflag.org/viewtopic.php?t=2185 Basically, create the bzflag\dist folder, download and install NSIS from nsis.sf.net, and use it to compile the .nsi. If lan56 doesn't have the executables being automatically stripped you'll want to strip them first otherwise the installer will be huge.
